The CDC says about one hundred seven thousand five hundred people in the United States died from drug overdoses in the twelve months that ended on December thirty one, twenty twenty three.

That equals about two hundred ninety five deaths each day.

From twenty eleven to twenty twenty one, about three hundred twenty one thousand five hundred sixty six children in the United States lost a parent to a drug overdose. Children with Indigenous parents had the highest rate of losing a parent. Their rate was more than double the rate of all other groups in the country.
